MLOps & Data Platform Engineer

AXIAN Digibank & Fintech is looking to hire an MLOps & Data Platform Engineer to build and run CI/CD pipelines, AWS infrastructure and containerised ML deployments for its data platforms. The role is open in Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), Lomé, Dakar and Antananarivo.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for data and ML model deployments across environments.
• Manage and optimize AWS infrastructure (Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, S3, Athena, RDS) using infrastructure-as-code principles.
• Containerise and deploy ML models using Docker and Kubernetes, ensuring reliability and scalability.
• Implement monitoring, alerting and self-healing mechanisms for data pipelines and model inference services.
• Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to streamline the path from experimentation to production.
• Manage Terraform-based infrastructure provisioning and enforce cloud cost discipline.
• Support data platform reliability across Tanzania, Madagascar, Senegal, Togo and Comoros.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Data, Cloud Computing or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in a DevOps, MLOps or Cloud/Data Platform engineering role.
• Strong proficiency in Python for scripting, tooling and pipeline development.
• Solid experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL or similar) in on-premises or hybrid environments, including query optimisation, scripted migrations and pipeline integration.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services (Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, S3, Athena, EC2/ECS).
• Experience with Terraform or equivalent IaC tooling.
• Comfortable with Docker and container orchestration (Kubernetes/EKS).
• Strong understanding of CI/CD principles and tooling (GitHub Actions, Jenkins or similar).
