Barrick Gold Corporation is seeking a Safety Officer for Bulyanhulu Gold Mine in Kahama to plan, implement, and oversee workplace safety programs and ensure compliance with Tanzanian Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead and influence change while developing a positive safety culture
- Champion Barrick’s journey to zero philosophy
- Conduct Critical Control Verifications
- Provide support and guidance to Safety Representatives
- Conduct on-the-job coaching and training on Standard Operating Procedures and safe work practices
- Complete health and safety activities
- Prepare accurate daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly safety reports
- Conduct weekly and monthly scheduled safety meetings
- Maintain accurate information in the Management of Change database
- Participate in the review of Standard Operating Procedures
- Conduct workplace inspections and audits
- Assist with incident and accident investigations
- Monitor and follow up on incident investigation recommendations
- Ensure compliance with relevant Tanzanian Occupational Health and Safety regulations
- Correct and report safety hazards
- Support and participate in safety initiatives and training
- Assist with formal risk assessments
- Understand related department activities and manage their impact on safety programs
- Carry out other duties assigned by the Safety Coordinator
