Computer Centre Tanzania Ltd is seeking a System Administrator – Linux & Virtualization to administer, configure, maintain, monitor, troubleshoot and optimize enterprise Linux and virtualized infrastructure environments.
The successful candidate will work with Linux servers, VMware virtualization, enterprise storage, backup and disaster recovery systems while providing advanced technical support and helping maintain secure, reliable and highly available IT infrastructure.
Responsibilities

Install, configure, administer and maintain Linux servers, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES).

Administer VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server and virtual machines.

Provision, configure, migrate, optimize and decommission virtual machines.
-
Manage virtual CPU, memory, storage and networking resources.
-
Perform operating system and virtualization patching, upgrades and lifecycle management.
-
Implement system hardening and security controls.
-
Configure and troubleshoot Linux networking, DNS, SSH, storage, users, permissions and system processes.

Monitor server, virtual machine and infrastructure availability, capacity, performance and overall health.

Proactively identify and resolve infrastructure issues.
-
Support and administer enterprise storage environments, including SAN and NAS.
-
Troubleshoot storage connectivity, performance and capacity issues.
-
Support backup, restoration, disaster recovery and business continuity environments.
-
Monitor backup processes and participate in recovery testing.
-
Provide Level 2 and Level 3 technical support for complex infrastructure incidents.

Perform root-cause analysis and resolve incidents within agreed service-level agreements.

Manage access controls, vulnerability remediation and infrastructure compliance requirements.

Participate in infrastructure implementations, migrations, upgrades and technology-refresh projects.

Support high-availability and disaster-recovery configurations.

Develop scripts and use automation tools to simplify routine system administration, monitoring and maintenance.

Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, configurations, SOPs, implementation records and troubleshooting guides.

Collaborate with Network, Database, Security, Application and other technical teams.

Work with vendors and customers to maintain reliable enterprise infrastructure.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or a related field.

3–5 years of hands-on experience in Linux system administration and enterprise infrastructure.

Demonstrable experience administering Red Hat and/or SUSE Linux environments.

Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi and vCenter.

Strong troubleshooting and infrastructure-management skills.
-
Experience working in enterprise data-centre or infrastructure environments is highly desirable.

Experience with enterprise storage, backup and disaster-recovery technologies is an added advantage.

Experience supporting infrastructure implementation and migration projects is an advantage.

Understanding of infrastructure security, system hardening and access management.

Ability to document technical configurations and procedures clearly.
