Short Description
WeWorld is seeking a Country Representative for Tanzania to lead and manage the organization’s country programmes, oversee programme quality, budget management, human resources, partnerships, donor relations, advocacy, and country-level security management. The role is based in Dar es Salaam and reports to the Head of Regional Unit.

Job Purpose
The Country Representative will direct WeWorld’s programmes in Tanzania, ensuring quality implementation, budget management, human resources management, donor engagement, stakeholder relations, and country security management. The role also identifies new programming opportunities and represents WeWorld to donors, government authorities, partners, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Management and Development
Ensure WeWorld Tanzania complies with local legislation and NGO operating requirements.
Lead development and implementation of the country strategic plan.
Oversee grants acquisition and development of new projects.
Supervise project managers and partners to ensure quality implementation.
Oversee programme documents, SOPs, policy briefs, risk assessments, and programme plans.
Ensure financial and logistical sustainability of programmes.
Support public, media, and donor relations.
Representation and Advocacy
Represent WeWorld in Tanzania in meetings, forums, conferences, and public events.
Engage government, donors, CSOs, local partners, communities, and other stakeholders.
Build strategic partnerships aligned with WeWorld’s country and regional strategies.
Identify opportunities for collaboration with donors, NGOs, UN agencies, and institutions.
Promote WeWorld’s identity, mission, and relevance in Tanzania.
Human Resources Management
Identify and plan national and international staffing needs.
Manage staff and support development of team capabilities.
Ensure transparent, inclusive, and compliant HR management.
Promote an inclusive and diverse work environment.
Security Management
Coordinate security and safety plans.
Identify risks and threats in areas of operation.
Develop emergency preparedness and evacuation plans.
Qualifications
Advanced university degree or equivalent in:
Social Science
Political Science
Development Studies
International Relations
Project Management
Human Rights
Ability to assess needs and write project proposals.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Fluent English, written and verbal.
Experience Required
Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience.
Experience with international NGOs.
Experience managing international cooperation projects funded by institutions, private donors, or sponsorship programmes.
Strong project development and proposal writing experience.
Budget management and financial reporting experience.
Security management experience.
