About the Role
CR-Consortium is seeking two qualified and experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanics to support the implementation of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) Uvinza Musongati Project. The successful candidates will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of heavy construction equipment while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.
Responsibilities
Participate in equipment installation and commissioning activities.
Perform maintenance and repair of heavy equipment engine systems.
Diagnose, maintain, and repair hydraulic systems.
Troubleshoot and maintain electrical and electronic systems.
Carry out maintenance and repairs on chassis and power train systems.
Implement preventive maintenance schedules to maximize equipment reliability.
Provide operational guidance and basic technical training to equipment operators.
Ensure all maintenance work complies with company quality and safety standards.
Requirements
A technical training certificate in Mechanical Maintenance from a recognized institution in Tanzania.
Minimum 3 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
Comprehensive knowledge of: Engine overhaul, Hydraulic system repair, Electrical system troubleshooting.
Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment, including: Engine diagnostic scanners, Hydraulic pressure gauges, Multimeters, Thermal imagers.
Ability to read and interpret: Equipment parts manuals, Service manuals, Electrical wiring schematics.
Ability to independently perform major overhauls on heavy mobile equipment.
Basic English listening and speaking skills to communicate with Chinese management and understand equipment operation manuals.
Good understanding of Tanzanian occupational health and safety regulations and site operational standards.
Strong safety awareness with no record of major safety violations or accidents.
Physical fitness to work outdoors, perform shift duties, and handle demanding working conditions.
Free from medical conditions that may affect heavy equipment operations (such as hypertension, heart disease, epilepsy, or color blindness).
Age between 25 and 45 years.
Good character with no criminal record.
Strong leadership skills.
Meticulous attention to detail.
High level of commitment and responsibility.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
