Social Worker

We are seeking for a dedicated Social Worker to provide counselling, advocacy and psychosocial support to children receiving treatment for surgically treatable disabilities and their families. The role focuses on ensuring holistic patient care by working closely with healthcare professionals, supporting family needs, maintaining patient records and contributing to monitoring and evaluation activities within the programme.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in accordance with government requirements.
• Submit timely reports to the Facility Coordinator.
• Provide supportive and compassionate counselling to patients and their families throughout their treatment journey.
• Collaborate with therapists, nurses, mental health professionals and other healthcare providers to ensure holistic patient care.
• Support implementation of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) tools to track patient progress and programme effectiveness.
• Implement, provide training on and adhere to CPP and PSEAH guidelines.
• Stay updated through research and continuous professional development.
• Apply current social work principles and best practices in daily activities.
• Support and oversee implementation of Education Programmes within the facility.
• Work closely with the Facility Coordinator and Programmes Manager on education initiatives.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Facility Coordinator.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or advanced diploma in Social Work, Sociology, Community Development or a related field from a recognized institution.
• Minimum three years of relevant experience in case management, counselling or community outreach.
• Experience within a hospital, NGO or social welfare setting is preferred.
• Strong communication skills and compassionate approach.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Strong time-management and organizational skills.
• Reliability, trustworthiness and ability to handle confidential patient information.
• Fluency in written and spoken Swahili and English.
• Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Good report-writing skills.
• Registration with the Tanzania Association of Social Workers (TASWO) is an added advantage.
• Experience working with children, persons with disabilities or vulnerable groups is an added advantage.
