Official job description

We are looking to hire a Clearance & Forwarding Officer in Dar es Salaam. The successful candidate will be responsible for customs clearance and import/export procedures, managing the required documentation, and ensuring compliance with Tanzania customs regulations and TRA procedures.

This is a Full-Time position open to Tanzanian citizens only.

Responsibilities

Handle customs clearance for the company's imports and exports, from documentation through to release of goods.
Prepare, verify, and lodge import/export documentation in line with Tanzania customs regulations and TRA procedures.
Liaise with TRA, port authorities, transporters, and other regulatory agencies to ensure timely clearance of consignments.
Maintain accurate records and filing of all clearing and forwarding documentation.
Track shipments and provide status updates to internal stakeholders to ensure deadlines are met.
Ensure all clearing and forwarding activities comply with applicable Tanzanian customs and tax requirements.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Clearing and Forwarding, Customs & Tax Management, or a related field.
Must possess a valid Certificate of Customs and Clearing.
Knowledge of customs clearance and import/export procedures.
Understanding of Tanzania customs regulations and TRA procedures.
Good communication and documentation skills.
Computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Office.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Relevant clearing and forwarding experience is an added advantage.
Must be a Tanzanian citizen.
