Matongo Gold Mines Ltd is seeking a Mine Geologist to lead underground geology activities, grade control, geological modeling, resource collaboration, mine planning, drilling, reconciliation, and geological reporting to support safe and economically optimized gold extraction.
Responsibilities
- Implement and manage grade control programs to optimize ore recovery and minimize dilution
- Deliver technical evaluations for optimal ore extraction and waste segregation
- Develop and maintain mine geological models and interpretations using drilling data, field mapping, and geological observations
- Drive underground mapping activities to interpret host lithologies, major structures, and controls of mineralization
- Communicate geological interpretations with the on-site resource modeling team for geological and grade block models
- Work with the mining team and provide recommendations for mine planning designs and mining strategies
- Update Life of Mine grade control drilling plans and schedules
- Provide input for drill programs, near-mine exploration, and feasibility studies
- Manage drilling productivity to meet budget forecasts safely and sustainably
- Implement and maintain grade control, mine geology operations, and mine-to-mill reconciliation procedures
- Ensure geological data accuracy and compliance with company standards
- Plan, propose, recommend, and follow up on monthly, yearly, and life-of-mine geology department budgets
- Prepare and deliver daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly geological reports
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Geology or a related field
- Advanced geological expertise in underground gold mining and mineralization
- Geological modeling and mineral resource estimation
- Sampling, assay, and QA/QC knowledge
- Geological data management
- People leadership and mine safety leadership
- Organizational, planning, problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
- Microsoft Office proficiency
