Rafiki Retreat is seeking an experienced Lodge General Manager to oversee the overall administration, operations, and strategic growth of the lodge. The successful candidate will lead daily operations, deliver exceptional guest experiences, manage lodge staff, oversee financial performance, drive business growth, and promote sustainable tourism practices while ensuring the highest standards of hospitality.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee all administrative and operational activities of the lodge.

Lead, mentor, and manage lodge staff to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

Develop and implement marketing strategies to increase lodge visibility and attract new guests.

Plan and allocate work effectively based on staff strengths and operational needs.

Prepare and manage operational budgets while maintaining high service standards.

Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and business performance.

Drive revenue growth through client acquisition and market expansion.

Prepare weekly operational and financial reports for lodge ownership.

Promote environmentally sustainable initiatives across lodge operations.

Maintain excellent customer service standards and guest satisfaction.

Build and maintain strong relationships with guests, partners, and stakeholders.

Ensure smooth day-to-day lodge operations and continuous service improvement.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in hotel, lodge, tourism, or hospitality management.

Strong understanding of the Tanzanian tourism and hospitality industry.

Proven experience developing strategies to increase occupancy, visibility, and business growth.

Excellent leadership and people management skills.

Strong budgeting, financial management, and operational planning abilities.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Commitment to sustainable tourism and environmentally responsible practices.

Fluency in English.

Proficiency in at least one European language (German preferred).

Knowledge of Swahili.
