We are seeking a qualified Driver to provide safe, reliable, and professional transportation services for UNESCO staff, officials, visitors, and other authorized personnel in Dar es Salaam and during official field trips. The role also includes maintaining the assigned vehicle and its documentation, supporting administrative duties, and assisting with general office operations when not engaged in driving.
Responsibilities

Drive UNESCO staff, officials, visitors, and other authorized personnel using official vehicles.

Provide safe, reliable, and timely transportation services.

Meet officials and visitors at the airport when required.

Assist with basic visa and customs formalities when required.

Provide transportation during official field trips.

Determine appropriate routes and journey times while following applicable security procedures.

Work flexible, long, or irregular hours when required, including weekends.

Maintain accurate daily vehicle logs and records.

Arrange minor vehicle repairs and coordinate major repairs when necessary.

Ensure timely oil changes and routine vehicle servicing.

Regularly inspect tyres, brakes, water levels, and other essential vehicle components.

Keep assigned vehicles clean and in good working condition.

Support vehicle maintenance planning and reporting.

Arrange vehicle inspections and repairs at designated workshops.

Ensure vehicles carry all required documents and supplies, including insurance, registration, logbooks, maps, first-aid kits, necessary spare parts, and office directories.

Monitor vehicle insurance and tax formalities.

Accurately report accidents and incidents.

Assist with communication equipment such as HF/VHF radios and satellite phones.

Deliver and collect official mail and documents.

Assist with photocopying, binding, filing, and other administrative duties.

Assist with payment of authorized office bills when required.

Cover the duties of other drivers during periods of leave.

Perform other duties required to support the work of the office.
Requirements

Minimum High School Certificate.

Valid national driver’s licence.
-
Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional driving experience.

Fluency in written and spoken English and Kiswahili.

Proven ability to drive safely and comply with local traffic regulations.

Experience driving different types and models of vehicles.

Ability to perform minor vehicle repairs.

Strong communication skills.
-
Knowledge of radio, email, telephone, and related communication applications.

Knowledge of United Nations vehicle rules and regulations.

Good planning and organizational skills.

Results-oriented approach.

Ability to operate safely under difficult traffic and driving conditions.

Passenger Service Vehicle driving training from a reputable institution is an added advantage.
