Tanzania Fertilizer Regulatory Authority (TFRA)

The Tanzania Fertilizer Regulatory Authority (TFRA) is a government regulator under the Ministry of Agriculture, established by the Fertilizers Act No. 9 of 2009, and has been operational since August 2012. It regulates and oversees the quality and trade of fertilizers and fertilizer supplements in Tanzania: it registers fertilizers, licenses and keeps records of manufacturers and dealers, issues import and export permits, conducts quality inspections along the value chain, sets indicative fertilizer prices, manages bulk procurement, and supports the national Fertilizer Subsidy Programme.
