AzamPay is seeking a senior database expert to manage the availability, performance, security, backup, recovery, and disaster readiness of Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL databases supporting payment and mobile money platforms.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, administer, and maintain Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL databases across production, disaster recovery, and test environments.
- Monitor database health, capacity, storage growth, and scheduled jobs, resolving issues before they affect customers.
- Manage clustering, replication, high-availability configurations, failover, and virtual IP configuration.
- Design, implement, and regularly test backup and restoration procedures for all database engines.
- Lead database-related disaster recovery drills, including data consistency checks between primary and disaster recovery environments.
- Tune queries, indexes, memory, and storage to maintain the performance of high-volume transaction systems.
- Forecast database capacity requirements and advise on hardware, storage, and licensing needs.
- Lead major database version upgrades, security patching, migrations, and rollback planning.
- Manage database users, roles, and privileges according to the principle of least privilege.
- Conduct database access reviews and work with security teams to address vulnerability findings.
- Oversee database work performed by third-party vendors and technology partners.
- Collaborate with Infrastructure, Network Operations Centre, DevOps, Development, and Data teams on changes, incidents, and releases.
- Follow established change management procedures for production database changes.
- Maintain operational runbooks, architecture diagrams, configuration records, and database inventories.
- Automate routine database administration tasks using scripts.
- Recommend tools and practices that improve database reliability, monitoring, and security.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- Expert Oracle Database 19c skills, including RMAN backup and recovery, Data Pump, AWR/ASH performance tuning, high availability, disaster recovery, patching, and upgrades.
- Expert MySQL 8.0 skills, including replication, InnoDB Cluster, MySQL Router, Percona XtraBackup, performance tuning, and version upgrades.
- Strong Linux administration skills with Red Hat, Oracle Linux, and Ubuntu.
- Strong Bash and Python or Perl scripting skills.
- Advanced SQL and PL/SQL skills for complex querying and application query optimization.
- Working knowledge of MongoDB replica sets, backup and restoration, monitoring, and version upgrades.
- Working knowledge of PostgreSQL streaming replication, backup and restoration, performance tuning, and major version upgrades.
- Knowledge of VMware, Veeam or similar enterprise backup tools, AWS EC2 or RDS, and monitoring platforms such as Zabbix, Oracle Enterprise Manager, or Percona PMM.
- Ability to manage high-availability, clustering, replication, backup, recovery, security, and database migration activities.
- Strong documentation, stakeholder management, vendor oversight, automation, and problem-solving skills.
