Habari Node Limited is seeking a Fiber Network Planning Engineer in Arusha to design, plan, optimize, and support FTTH, FTTx, metropolitan, and backbone fiber-optic networks while coordinating rollouts and ensuring reliable, compliant network performance.
Responsibilities
- Design and plan FTTH/FTTx, metropolitan, and backbone fiber networks using appropriate engineering tools
- Conduct site surveys, perform link budget calculations, and prepare technical designs and Bills of Quantities
- Supervise fiber network rollout activities and coordinate technical teams
- Manage infrastructure vendors and ensure effective project implementation
- Optimize fiber network capacity and redundancy to improve network reliability
- Monitor network performance and provide Level 2 and Level 3 technical support
- Support sales proposals and participate in infrastructure-sharing negotiations
- Ensure compliance with applicable telecommunications regulations and technical standards
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Information Technology, or a related field
- At least 3 years of fiber network planning experience within an ISP or telecommunications company
- Hands-on experience with FTTH GPON technology, fiber route design, and wireless link planning
- Site surveying, link budget calculations, technical design and Bills of Quantities preparation
- Network rollout supervision and technical team coordination
- Network performance monitoring and L2/L3 technical support
- Proficiency with QGIS, GNI, AutoCAD, Google Earth, Ubiquiti airLink and Link Planner
- Knowledge of telecommunications regulations and technical standards
