The National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of Tanzania is seeking a qualified Project Manager – Buildings, Property & Development to coordinate and oversee its building, construction, property and development projects.
Based in Dar es Salaam, this is a full-time hybrid role combining office-based responsibilities such as architectural drawings, project planning and documentation with regular field visits to construction sites, properties, land and buildings.
The successful candidate will manage projects from planning through completion while coordinating contractors, architects, engineers, consultants, suppliers and government authorities. The role also includes handling matters related to land documentation, surveying, title deeds, building permits and statutory approvals.
Responsibilities

Plan, coordinate and monitor building and property development projects from commencement through completion.

Prepare and interpret architectural drawings, building plans, layouts and technical designs.

Supervise construction, renovation and maintenance works.

Ensure construction quality and proper use of materials.

Ensure works comply with approved plans and technical specifications.

Coordinate architects, engineers, contractors, consultants and suppliers.
-
Prepare project schedules and work plans.
-
Prepare budgets, estimates, scopes of work and technical specifications.
-
Monitor project progress, expenditure and timelines.
-
Monitor contractor performance and quality of work.
-
Identify and report project delays, challenges and cost overruns.
-
Conduct regular construction and property site visits.
-
Provide technical and project-management guidance during project implementation.
-
Follow up on land surveying and boundary verification.
-
Coordinate property valuations where required.
-
Follow up on title deeds, certificates and other property documentation.

Liaise with land offices, municipal authorities, surveyors, planners and other relevant government bodies.

Follow up on building permits, planning approvals and construction approvals.

Assist with identifying and evaluating contractors, consultants and suppliers.

Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets.

Maintain accurate records of drawings, contracts, approvals, reports, photographs and certificates.

Prepare regular project progress reports for management and relevant committees.

Maintain updated records of organizational properties and ongoing projects.

Identify project risks and recommend practical solutions.
-
Travel to project and property locations in different parts of Tanzania when required.
Requirements

Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in one of the following or a related field, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building Technology, Quantity Surveying, Project Management

At least 3–5 years of relevant professional experience.

Practical experience in construction, architectural design, property development or project management.

Experience in architectural drawing and building design.

Practical construction-supervision experience.

Experience coordinating projects and managing contractors.

Good understanding of land surveying and property documentation.

Knowledge of building approvals and relevant government procedures in Tanzania.

Ability to read and prepare technical and architectural drawings.

Proficiency in AutoCAD or related design software.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
