Relationship Manager – Parastatals

NMB Bank Plc is looking for a Relationship Manager for Parastatals based at the Head Office in Dar es Salaam. The role focuses on managing and growing the Salaried Workers Loan (SWL) portfolio within parastatal institutions by acquiring new schemes, increasing penetration in existing schemes, maintaining portfolio quality, and guiding Direct Sales Staff to execute SWL sales campaigns effectively.

Responsibilities

• Identify, negotiate, and onboard new parastatal schemes in line with the bank’s SWL growth objectives.
• Deepen penetration in existing parastatal schemes through regular engagement with Human Resources and Payroll officers.
• Conduct employer visits, presentations, and financial literacy sessions to promote awareness of SWL products.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with parastatal decision-makers to support sustainable partnerships.
• Prepare and implement scheme penetration plans with measurable milestones.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and daily support to Direct Sales Staff to achieve acquisition and disbursement targets.
• Monitor Direct Sales Staff productivity, including applications, disbursements, and conversion rates, and take corrective action where necessary.
• Conduct joint field visits with Direct Sales Staff to employers and support effective product promotion and onboarding.
• Ensure Direct Sales Staff comply with applicable standards, ethical sales practices, and documentation requirements.
• Monitor the SWL loan portfolio across parastatal schemes and support portfolio growth while maintaining quality and minimizing non-performing loans.
• Follow up with employers on payroll deductions, reconciliations, and arrears management.
• Identify and escalate risks related to scheme performance and take proactive measures to prevent defaults.
• Prepare accurate daily, weekly, and monthly reports covering parastatal performance and Direct Sales Staff output.
• Conduct competitor analysis, collect customer and employer feedback, and recommend improvements to products, processes, and market positioning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of banking experience in Relationship Management and/or Loan Portfolio Management.
• Proven track record in driving lending penetration and portfolio growth is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Excel, Visio, Word, and Publisher.
• Strong coaching skills.
