The Senior Specialist; Operational Risk MIS & Data Analytics is responsible for supporting the implementation and execution of the Bank’s Operational Risk Management Framework through the identification, assessment, monitoring, analysis, and reporting of operational risks.
Responsibilities

Support business units in creating, maintaining, and improving Risk Registers.

Facilitate the identification, setup, and calibration of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).

Analyze and validate reported KRI results and ensure identified control improvements are reflected in business risk registers.

Analyze, reconcile, and validate operational loss data.
-
Monitor remedial action plans and validate their closure to help prevent recurrence of risk events.
-
Coordinate and track remedial actions arising from RCSAs, risk events, KRIs, and other reviews.
-
Support implementation of the Operational Risk Management Framework, policies, and related initiatives.

Escalate significant operational risk issues to the Head of Operational Risk.

Support compliance with the risk management framework for identifying, assessing, controlling, monitoring, and reporting operational risks.

Support the identification and assessment of sustainability and climate-related financial risks.
-
Contribute to the integration of ESG risk factors into operational risk assessments, Risk Registers, and RCSAs.

Monitor and analyze climate-related operational loss events and contribute to mitigation strategies.

Aggregate, analyze, and interpret operational risk data, including RCSA results, KRIs, risk events, issues, and loss data.

Develop and maintain dashboards and automated management information reports for management, Board-level, and risk governance stakeholders.

Perform trend and root-cause analysis to identify systemic risk issues and provide actionable insights.

Support risk appetite monitoring by tracking key metrics and breaches.

Track and report Environmental, Social and Governance operational risk indicators.

Contribute to dashboards and reports related to climate-risk exposure and sustainability metrics.

Advise business units on operational risk management best practices, including risk identification, assessment, and mitigation.

Support the development of effective risk mitigation plans aligned with the Bank’s risk management strategy.

Provide operational risk subject-matter expertise and support compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Conduct awareness and training sessions to strengthen operational risk culture across the organization.

Support alignment with ESG and climate-risk regulatory expectations and industry best practices.
-
Collaborate with ESG, Sustainability, Risk Policy, and other relevant teams to strengthen climate resilience and sustainable risk management.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Data Science, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Information Systems, or a related discipline.

At least 4 years of relevant experience in operational risk, internal audit, enterprise risk management, or risk data analysis within banking or financial services.

In-depth understanding of operational risk principles, practices, and frameworks.
-
Good understanding of banking processes, products, services, and their associated operational risks.
-
Proficiency in risk assessment tools and techniques.
-
Ability to extract, clean, analyze, and interpret operational risk data.
-
Familiarity with regulatory requirements relating to operational risk management.
-
Working knowledge of risk systems and tools.
-
Understanding of internal control design, testing, and monitoring principles.
-
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or other data visualization tools.
-
Knowledge of SQL, Python, or other data analysis tools is an added advantage.

Excellent report writing, presentation, and communication skills.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Solid understanding of ESG, RCSAs, KRIs, loss event reporting, governance, and assurance reviews.

Proven experience in data analytics, risk reporting, and risk management systems.

Experience preparing reports and dashboards for senior management and governance committees.

Familiarity with risk management standards such as Basel II and Basel III.

Master’s degree in Business Studies is an added advantage.

Relevant risk certification(s) are an added advantage.
