Peston Tech, the technology division of Peston Group, is seeking a practical and results-driven Software Engineer to design, build, test, deploy, and maintain software applications and digital systems for clients and Peston Group companies.
The successful candidate will work across full-stack software development, databases, APIs, enterprise systems, cloud deployment, application security, and Research & Development. This role is designed for a hands-on engineer who can understand business requirements and turn them into secure, scalable, and commercially viable software solutions.
Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software applications and systems.

Build full-stack web applications and business management systems.

Develop modern, responsive, and secure corporate web platforms.

Develop frontend and backend application components.
-
Design, develop, and manage relational databases.
-
Develop and integrate REST APIs and third-party services.
-
Build authentication, authorization, and user-management systems.
-
Integrate payment gateways, mobile money, messaging services, and external platforms.
-
Support the development and customization of ERP, CRM, and enterprise systems.
-
Analyze client and business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
-
Troubleshoot, debug, maintain, and improve existing applications.
-
Apply appropriate cybersecurity, application security, and data protection practices.
-
Use Git, GitHub, GitLab, or equivalent version-control systems.
-
Deploy and maintain applications on cloud, VPS, and other hosting environments.
-
Conduct software testing and support quality assurance before deployment.
-
Prepare technical documentation for systems and applications.
-
Provide technical input for software proposals, project requirements, and client presentations.

Support technology and digital-transformation projects across Peston Group.

Participate in Research & Development of new technologies and digital products.

Research emerging technologies and recommend commercially viable solutions.

Contribute to the development of software products that can be commercialized by Peston Tech.

Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related field.

Minimum of 2 years of practical professional experience in software engineering or software development.

Strong practical experience in full-stack software development.

Demonstrable experience developing real-world software applications or systems.

Strong coding and programming capabilities.

Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks such as React, Next.js, Vue.js, or equivalent.

Experience with backend technologies such as Node.js, Python/Django/FastAPI, PHP/Laravel, Java, .NET, or equivalent.

Strong understanding of SQL databases including PostgreSQL, MySQL, or equivalent.

Experience developing and integrating REST APIs and third-party services.
-
Good understanding of software architecture, data structures, and software development principles.

Experience using Git, GitHub, GitLab, or equivalent version-control platforms.

Experience deploying software applications into production environments.

Understanding of cloud infrastructure, VPS environments, hosting, domains, and deployment.

Good understanding of authentication, authorization, application security, and data protection.

Strong debugging, testing, troubleshooting, and application optimization skills.

Understanding of responsive application design and UI/UX principles.

Experience with ERP, CRM, or business management systems is an added advantage.

Odoo development, implementation, or customization experience is a strong added advantage.

Mobile application development experience for Android or iOS is an added advantage.

Payment gateway and mobile money integration experience is an added advantage.

Cloud platforms and DevOps knowledge are an added advantage.

Familiarity with AI-assisted software development tools is an added advantage.
