Official job description

We are seeking five Assistant Printers II – Printing and Binding to join the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) in Dar es Salaam. The role involves operating printing, paper-cutting, binding, and related production machinery, as well as carrying out hand binding and assembling printed materials to support NECTA's printing operations.

Responsibilities

Operate small offset printing machines.
Operate paper-cutting machines.
Operate SORD and SORS printing machines.
Operate Goss-web printing equipment.
Operate Speed Master printing machines.
Operate Guillotine cutting machines.
Operate book-pressing and binding machines.
Operate hydraulic-powered equipment used for lifting reams and other printing materials.
Perform hand-binding activities when required.
Collate printed sheets and materials in the correct sequence.
Cut and trim printed materials according to required specifications.
Assemble printed materials into completed products.
Support general printing and binding operations as assigned.

Requirements

Full Technician Certificate (FTC) in Graphic Art and Printing, Printing Technology, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; or
Diploma (NTA Level 6) in Graphic Art and Printing, Printing Technology, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Ability to operate small offset printing machines.
Ability to operate paper-cutting and binding equipment.
Ability to operate relevant printing machinery such as SORD, SORS, Goss-web, and Speed Master.
Ability to operate Guillotine and book-pressing machines.
Ability to use hydraulic lifting equipment used in printing operations.
Practical knowledge of hand binding, collating, cutting, trimming, and assembling printed materials.
