The Chief Credit Officer is responsible for safeguarding the Bank's credit portfolio by establishing and maintaining an effective credit risk management framework. The role provides strategic leadership across the credit lifecycle, ensuring sound credit policies, regulatory compliance, portfolio quality, and effective recovery strategies while balancing risk and profitability.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and oversee credit policies, procedures, and process manuals aligned with regulatory and internal requirements.

Ensure effective implementation and continuous improvement of credit management policies.

Communicate policy updates and credit initiatives across the Bank.

Ensure compliance with internal and external credit regulations.

Maintain a high-quality credit portfolio using recognized credit risk rating methodologies.

Ensure credit facilities are appropriately structured, secured, and monitored.

Oversee the entire credit lifecycle, including:

Credit assessment

Loan approval
-
Credit utilization
-
Portfolio monitoring

Recovery and collections
-
Identify causes of credit losses and implement preventive measures.

Oversee Credit Analysis, Credit Administration, Credit Monitoring, Product Programmes, and Recovery functions.

Lead performance management and development of credit teams.

Maintain high standards of credit documentation, reporting, and portfolio monitoring.

Monitor loan performance and identify emerging credit risks.

Support development of lending products while protecting the Bank's risk appetite.

Oversee recovery strategies for distressed and non-performing loans.

Ensure timely responses to regulatory, audit, and internal inquiries.
Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.

MBA, MSc, MA, ML, or other relevant professional qualifications are highly desirable.

Minimum of:

10 years of relevant banking experience, or

15 years of relevant non-banking experience.
