Job Description

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is seeking a Medical Activity Manager to coordinate, supervise and monitor medical activities related to HIV, TB, STIs and Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) in Liwale District, Lindi Region. The role ensures delivery of high-quality medical services according to MSF protocols, national guidelines and project objectives while working closely with Ministry of Health teams and multidisciplinary medical staff.

Responsibilities

Coordinate, assess and supervise medical activities including HIV, TB, STIs and SGBV programmes.
Ensure medical activities are implemented according to MSF protocols, standards and procedures.
Compile and analyze medical data related to patient health conditions.
Participate in annual project planning, budgeting and programme follow-up.
Monitor achievement of medical activity objectives and report operational challenges.
Ensure accurate patient follow-up documentation including patient cards, registers, discharge records and transfers.
Ensure efficient pharmacy management and rational use of medicines.
Supervise appropriate use of medical equipment and identify future medical equipment needs.
Prepare medical orders required for implementation of medical activities.
Identify and report non-medical support needs including materials, infrastructure and transport requirements.
Coordinate daily work plans, staff schedules, absences and leave management.
Participate in clinical shifts and replace doctors when required.
Support recruitment, training, performance evaluation and development of medical staff.
Strengthen staff capacity through mentorship, coaching and continuous improvement activities.
Prepare monthly reports, situation reports (SitRePs) and medical statistical reports.
Coordinate implementation of integrated healthcare packages with Ministry of Health teams.
Ensure compliance with MSF standards, national guidelines and project objectives.
Strengthen quality of care through supportive supervision, clinical mentorship, audits and quality-improvement initiatives.
Support training and mentorship of Ministry of Health healthcare workers.
Monitor medical indicators, quality-of-care outcomes and operational performance data.
Ensure accurate documentation and timely reporting through project monitoring tools.
Coordinate emergency preparedness, disease surveillance and outbreak response activities.
Manage daily activities of multidisciplinary medical teams.
Support staff induction, training and performance management processes.
Coordinate with pharmacy, laboratory, biomedical and logistics teams to ensure availability of medicines, diagnostics, equipment and supplies.
Represent MSF during technical coordination meetings with Ministry of Health and other partners.
Support health-system strengthening and sustainable service delivery improvements.
Follow up on the health of locally hired staff according to MSF staff health policies.

Requirements

Medical Doctor qualification.
Specialization or training in Tropical Medicine or related fields is desirable.
Minimum three years of relevant professional experience.
Previous MSF field experience is an added advantage.
Experience in neonatal intensive care (NICU) is an added advantage.
Good spoken and written English.
Proficiency in Kiswahili.
Computer literacy including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and internet usage.
