Shanta Mining Company Limited is seeking an experienced Inventory Specialist to support its mining operations in Songwe.
The successful candidate will manage and optimise consumables and spare-parts inventory to ensure mining operations have the materials they need at the right time. The role will focus on maintaining appropriate stock levels, reducing excess and obsolete inventory, improving inventory accuracy, and supporting efficient materials planning and cost control.
Responsibilities

Manage inventory levels, replenishment and re-order requirements.

Ensure adequate availability of critical, insurance and fast-moving materials.

Minimise excess, redundant and obsolete inventory.

Plan and control physical stock counts.
-
Investigate and reconcile inventory discrepancies.
-
Process approved inventory and stock adjustments.
-
Manage Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) reconciliations.

Prepare and process purchase requisitions.
-
Maintain accurate inventory master data and stock classifications in Syspro.

Review requests for the introduction of new stock items.

Monitor historical stock movements and usage patterns.

Coordinate with Heads of Department and end users on Materials Requirements Planning (MRP).

Coordinate stock requirements related to equipment and operational changes.

Participate in Underground and Process Plant production meetings.

Prepare daily, weekly and monthly inventory reports.

Analyse inventory information to support stock-management and operational decisions.

Supervise, train and develop inventory personnel.

Manage available inventory manpower effectively.

Ensure inventory activities comply with company safety, health, environmental, asset-protection and operational requirements.
Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Procurement & Supplies, Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar inventory management or inventory control role.

Previous experience in the mining or construction industry.

Good understanding of stores management and procurement processes.

Strong knowledge of inventory management systems and related financial processes.

Sound knowledge of material movement systems.

Experience using Syspro or a similar ERP/inventory management system.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Strong data-analysis and reporting skills.
