SUMET is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead warehouse operations, logistics, supply chain activities, regulatory compliance, and branch expansion across its FMCG distribution business in Tanzania.
The successful candidate will oversee daily operations, improve operational efficiency, ensure inventory accuracy, manage distribution networks, coordinate import processes, and support the company's continued growth while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee warehouse and inventory operations to ensure stock accuracy and availability.

Manage logistics and distribution activities to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries.

Coordinate company registrations, licenses, and operational compliance requirements.

Manage supply chain operations, customs clearance, import documentation, and purchasing coordination.

Support business expansion by coordinating the setup of new branches and operational locations.

Develop and improve operational processes, systems, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Monitor operational KPIs and analyze performance reports.

Drive continuous operational improvement initiatives.

Collaborate with Sales, Finance, Purchasing, and other departments to ensure efficient operations.

Oversee all dark store operations and management.
Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years' experience in operations management, logistics, warehouse management, or supply chain.

Proven experience working in the FMCG industry, preferably within distribution operations.

Experience managing warehouses, logistics networks, inventory control, and supply chain processes.

Good understanding of customs clearance procedures and import documentation.

Experience supporting business expansion and opening new branches.

Strong leadership, planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.

Experience using ERP systems.

Experience with Odoo ERP is an added advantage.

Fluency in written and spoken English.

Willingness to relocate to Dar es Salaam.
