Tanzania Portland Cement Company Limited (Twiga Cement) is seeking a Civil Engineer to provide technical expertise in the design, inspection, maintenance, rehabilitation, and execution of civil and structural works across its cement manufacturing plant in Dar es Salaam.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular inspections and condition assessments of plant structures, including silos, preheater towers, kiln and mill foundations, retaining walls, workshops, warehouses, and office buildings
- Identify structural defects and recommend corrective actions
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for civil assets
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise civil engineering projects from conception to completion
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, and quality standards
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and contractor submissions
- Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and production departments during project execution
- Supervise contractors and subcontractors performing civil works
- Ensure civil works comply with approved drawings, specifications, safety requirements, and applicable standards
- Certify completed work and validate contractor invoices
- Monitor critical foundations supporting kilns, mills, crushers, and other heavy equipment
- Perform structural analysis and assessments and recommend strengthening measures
- Prepare and review engineering calculations, drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications
- Support plant expansion and modification projects
- Prepare annual maintenance and project budgets for civil works
- Maintain inspection, repair, project, and engineering documentation
- Prepare technical, project progress, and maintenance reports
- Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and local regulations
- Conduct risk assessments and participate in safety audits and incident investigations
