Technician II (Automobile)

Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC) is looking for four Technician II (Automobile) professionals to support the maintenance and repair of plants, machinery, motor vehicles, and construction equipment. The role involves vehicle servicing, diagnostics, repairs, record keeping, and maintaining safe and efficient workshop operations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and participate in the maintenance and repair of plants, machinery, motor vehicles, and construction equipment.
• Perform routine vehicle maintenance, including oil and brake changes.
• Diagnose mechanical and automotive problems.
• Repair or replace worn, old, or defective vehicle parts.
• Test vehicle systems after repairs to ensure proper functionality.
• Maintain detailed and accurate repair records.
• Communicate diagnosed problems, required repairs, and expected repair timelines to service advisors.
• Ensure workshop tools and equipment are clean, operational, and safe.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Keep up to date with automotive technologies and vehicle repair best practices.

Requirements

• Form IV or Form VI education.
• Diploma or NTA Level 6 qualification in Automobile Engineering, Automotive Mechanics, or another relevant qualification from a recognized institution.
• Practical knowledge of vehicle diagnostics.
• Knowledge of routine vehicle servicing and maintenance.
• Practical ability to repair motor vehicles, plants, machinery, and construction equipment.
• Ability to maintain accurate repair and maintenance records.
• Ability to work safely and efficiently in a workshop environment.
