Official job description

Thamini Uhai is seeking a full-time Project Driver to provide safe and reliable transportation for project staff, partners, materials, and implementation teams across Mwanza and other project regions in Tanzania.

Responsibilities

Drive vehicles for official travel and business activities
Pick up, drop off, and transport Thamini Uhai staff throughout project-covered and other regions in Tanzania
Ensure punctuality and safe transportation
Observe Tanzanian road and traffic laws and regulations
Maintain safe driving practices and protect staff, passengers, and other road users
Keep vehicles clean, tidy, secure, and in good working condition
Assist with loading and unloading materials
Perform regular vehicle checks and minor repairs
Arrange for vehicle repairs and prepare vehicle spare parts inventories
Maintain accurate schedules of driving assignments
Follow safety protocols and insurance procedures in case of accidents or incidents
Prepare and submit monthly vehicle monitoring reports covering operations, maintenance, expenses, and mileage
Assist the field team when required
Assist the Project and Finance Assistant in ensuring vehicle insurance and registration are updated
Log official trips, daily mileage, fuel consumption, and oil changes

Requirements

Safe and defensive driving skills
Good knowledge of Tanzanian road laws and routes
Basic vehicle troubleshooting and maintenance skills
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Punctual, reliable, and responsible
Good record-keeping and reporting skills
High integrity and professionalism
Valid Tanzanian driving licence
Advanced Driving Certificate from NIT or VETA
Ability to work flexible hours and travel as required
