Tutor in Journalism & Media Production

United African Technical College (UATC) is seeking a qualified Tutor in Journalism & Media Production to join its academic team in Vijibweni, Kigamboni, Dar es Salaam.

The successful candidate will teach Journalism, Media Production and related modules up to NTA Level 6, while providing students with practical skills, academic guidance and professional mentorship.

The position begins on 01 October 2026 and forms part of UATC's Christian values-based approach to technical education, aimed at developing students academically, professionally and personally.

Responsibilities

• Teach Journalism, Media Production and related modules up to NTA Level 6.
• Deliver courses in accordance with NACTVET teaching standards.
• Prepare and deliver high-quality, student-centered lessons.
• Apply modern teaching methods and practical industry examples.
• Guide students through assignments, fieldwork and project development.
• Help students develop practical Journalism and Media Production skills.
• Encourage critical thinking, creativity and practical problem-solving.
• Provide academic and professional guidance to students.
• Mentor students in their spiritual, intellectual, emotional and character development.
• Work closely with the Head of Department.
• Help organize and oversee student extracurricular activities.
• Support student clubs and community-service initiatives.
• Participate in industry networking activities and events.
• Contribute to the development of new short courses and advanced learning opportunities.
• Ensure courses and learning activities align with NACTVET standards and regulations.
• Participate in continuous professional development.
• Participate in research and knowledge-sharing activities related to Journalism and Media Production.
• Perform other relevant duties assigned by the supervisor or college administration.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Journalism, Media Production or a related field.
• Minimum university GPA of 3.5.
• Valid Teacher Training License or CBET Certificate.
• Relevant professional/industry experience in Journalism, Media Production or a related field.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Strong passion for teaching and mentoring students.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• 2 or more years of teaching experience in a NACTVET-recognized academic institution is an added advantage.
