We are seeking a Risk and Compliance Officer to support risk management, regulatory compliance, fraud monitoring, and internal controls within the Mwanza region. The role is responsible for implementing compliance monitoring activities across business centers, identifying operational and regulatory risks, supporting fraud detection and investigation, maintaining risk records, testing internal controls, and helping ensure compliance with Bank of Tanzania (BOT), Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), and other applicable requirements.
Responsibilities

Implement the Compliance Monitoring Plan across business centers within the assigned region.

Monitor compliance with VFT-MFB policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Identify, document, and report violations of organizational policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.

Conduct compliance reviews and report on the compliance status of regional operations.

Advise relevant teams on compliance with operational policies, local procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Monitor compliance with requirements issued by authorities including BOT, FIU, and TRA.

Conduct training for VFT-MFB staff on policies and procedures, anti-money laundering (AML), and relevant legal and regulatory requirements.

Review operational activities to identify non-compliance issues involving data entry, reconciliations, abnormal approvals, withdrawals, and other transactions.

Analyze branch and operational reports to identify trends, anomalies, control weaknesses, and potential fraudulent activities.

Report confirmed and suspected fraudulent activities through the appropriate channels.

Monitor the progress and status of fraud-recovery activities at business centers.

Support the identification and assessment of operational and compliance risks.

Assist with maintaining and updating the organizational risk register.

Monitor, document, and report risk incidents.

Conduct testing of internal risk and compliance controls.

Test and monitor relevant physical security controls and security devices.

Recommend appropriate corrective actions when control weaknesses or compliance issues are identified.

Follow up on identified compliance issues and risk-mitigation actions.

Maintain accurate risk, compliance, and incident documentation and reports.
-
Act as the focal person for health and physical security matters at the regional business center.

Work with business-center teams to strengthen compliance awareness and risk-management practices.
Requirements

University degree in Law, Business Management, Banking, or a related discipline.

Knowledge of compliance software and applications.

Experience with banking or financial institution operations.

Understanding of enterprise risk management principles and practices.

Understanding of anti-money laundering (AML) requirements and controls.

Understanding of the impact of money laundering on the economy and financial systems.
