Assistant Lecturer – Disaster & Emergency Management

Zanzibar University is seeking Assistant Lecturers in Disaster & Emergency Management to teach, conduct research, supervise students, and contribute to academic activities within the Faculty of Health and Allied Sciences at the University Main Campus in Tunguu, Zanzibar.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Disaster and Emergency Management.
• Prepare course outlines, lecture materials, practical exercises, and assessments in line with University curricula.
• Supervise and mentor students in coursework and field practicals.
• Supervise student research projects and dissertations.
• Conduct research in disaster risk reduction and emergency preparedness.
• Publish academic research in relevant areas.
• Participate in curriculum development.
• Participate in departmental meetings, examinations, and quality assurance activities.
• Contribute to consultancy and community outreach activities.
• Participate in other University service activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Disaster Management, Emergency Management, or another relevant field.
• Minimum undergraduate CGPA of 3.5.
• Master’s degree in Disaster Management or Emergency Management.
• Minimum Master's CGPA of 4.0.
• Sound knowledge of disaster risk reduction.
• Good understanding of emergency preparedness and response frameworks.
• Strong teaching and presentation skills.
• Strong academic writing skills.
• Demonstrated interest and capacity in research and publication.
• Ability to supervise and mentor students.
• Willingness to work at the University Main Campus in Tunguu, Zanzibar.
