Zanzibar University is seeking Assistant Lecturers in Disaster & Emergency Management to teach, conduct research, supervise students, and contribute to academic activities within the Faculty of Health and Allied Sciences at the University Main Campus in Tunguu, Zanzibar.
Responsibilities
-
Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Disaster and Emergency Management.

Prepare course outlines, lecture materials, practical exercises, and assessments in line with University curricula.

Supervise and mentor students in coursework and field practicals.
-
Supervise student research projects and dissertations.
-
Conduct research in disaster risk reduction and emergency preparedness.
-
Publish academic research in relevant areas.
-
Participate in curriculum development.
-
Participate in departmental meetings, examinations, and quality assurance activities.
-
Contribute to consultancy and community outreach activities.
-
Participate in other University service activities.
Requirements
-
Bachelor’s degree in Disaster Management, Emergency Management, or another relevant field.

Minimum undergraduate CGPA of 3.5.
-
Master’s degree in Disaster Management or Emergency Management.
-
Minimum Master's CGPA of 4.0.
-
Sound knowledge of disaster risk reduction.
-
Good understanding of emergency preparedness and response frameworks.

Strong teaching and presentation skills.
-
Strong academic writing skills.
-
Demonstrated interest and capacity in research and publication.
-
Ability to supervise and mentor students.
-
Willingness to work at the University Main Campus in Tunguu, Zanzibar.
