Tutorial Assistant – Medicine

Zanzibar University is seeking Tutorial Assistants in Medicine to support teaching and learning activities within the Faculty of Health and Allied Sciences at the University Main Campus in Tunguu, Zanzibar. The role involves assisting academic staff with tutorials, practical and clinical learning activities, mentoring students, supporting assessments, and participating in research and community outreach.

Responsibilities

• Assist academic staff in conducting tutorials, seminars, and practical sessions for medical students.
• Support the preparation of teaching materials, case studies, and student learning resources.
• Guide and mentor students during clinical rotations.
• Support students during laboratory exercises and field attachments.
• Assist with marking assignments, tests, and clinical assessments.
• Assist in maintaining accurate student academic records.
• Participate in departmental research activities.
• Participate in academic meetings and related departmental activities.
• Contribute to community outreach programmes.
• Undertake further academic development in preparation for progression to Assistant Lecturer.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Medicine (MD or MBBS).
• Minimum undergraduate CGPA of 3.5.
• Strong clinical knowledge.
• Sound academic grounding in medical sciences.
• Good communication skills.
• Good presentation skills and aptitude for teaching.
• Ability to work collaboratively with academic staff, clinicians, and students.
• Commitment to pursuing further postgraduate studies.
• Interest and commitment to academic research.
• Willingness to work at the University Main Campus in Tunguu, Zanzibar.
