We are seeking an Engineer 1 - UG Ventilation to design, implement, monitor, and optimize underground mine ventilation systems to maintain a safe, healthy, and productive working environment. The role focuses on ensuring adequate airflow and controlling dust, heat, diesel emissions, and hazardous gases while maintaining compliance with mining regulations, company standards, and industry best practices.
Responsibilities

Develop and maintain underground mine ventilation plans and models.

Monitor underground airflow, gas concentrations, temperatures, and dust levels.

Ensure ventilation systems comply with applicable mining legislation and company standards.

Design ventilation circuits, fans, regulators, and other ventilation controls.

Conduct ventilation surveys and analyze system performance data.

Identify and resolve ventilation-related issues affecting underground safety or production.

Incorporate ventilation requirements into underground mine plans and designs.

Recommend improvements to increase ventilation efficiency and reduce operating costs.

Monitor ventilation performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Prepare technical reports, ventilation schedules, and statutory documentation.

Support the effective control of heat, dust, diesel emissions, and hazardous gases underground.

Mentor and provide technical support to ventilation technicians.

Support continuous improvement initiatives within underground mining operations.

Stop work where unsafe practices or conditions are identified and report them to the appropriate supervisor or safety personnel.
Requirements

Qualification in Mining Engineering or an equivalent relevant field.

Registration with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB).

At least 2–5 years of relevant experience in underground mining.

Experience with various underground mechanized mining methods.

Knowledge of underground mine ventilation systems and requirements.

Strong awareness of mining health and safety requirements.
