Graduate Engineer, UG Mine Planning

We are seeking a Graduate Engineer, UG Mine Planning to join a structured three-year graduate development programme at AngloGold Ashanti Tanzania. The programme provides practical industry experience through rotations across different mining tasks and teams, with increasing work complexity as competence develops. The role focuses particularly on underground mine planning while providing broader exposure to mining operations, safety, geotechnical assessment, equipment, data analysis, and engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the structured three-year Graduate Development Programme and complete assigned technical rotations.
• Support senior engineers in developing underground mine plans, including layout design, stope planning, and scheduling.
• Collect and analyse mining operational data, including production metrics, ore quality, and equipment performance.
• Prepare reports summarising technical findings, operational performance, and key insights.
• Participate in fieldwork and site visits to develop practical knowledge of day-to-day underground mining operations.
• Assist with geotechnical assessments to understand ground stability and identify potential hazards.
• Participate in safety inspections and identify opportunities to improve workplace safety.
• Gain practical exposure to the operation and maintenance of mining equipment.
• Work with maintenance teams to understand equipment reliability and troubleshooting.
• Assist in preparing technical reports, project plans, progress updates, and other engineering documentation.
• Contribute to discipline-specific engineering services while meeting established deadlines, targets, and budgets.
• Provide accurate and timely operational and process-performance data.
• Support initiatives that strengthen the team's capability to deliver strategies supporting the Life of Mine (LOM) Plan.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the business to improve operational and organisational value.
• Comply with Safety, Health, Environment and Community (SHE&C) plans, systems, and processes.
• Build constructive working relationships with colleagues, business partners, supervisors, and other stakeholders.
• Take responsibility for personal professional development with guidance from supervisors and mentors.

Requirements

• Degree in Mining Engineering or another relevant discipline.
• At least one year of practical experience gained through industrial or practical training.
• Knowledge of mining engineering principles appropriate to graduate-level studies.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collect, interpret, and communicate technical and operational data.
• Ability to make sound and timely decisions.
