We are seeking a Geologist 2, Exploration Technical to support mineral exploration activities through the design and execution of exploration work programmes, geological interpretation, data integration, and 3D geological modelling. The role involves supervising exploration and drilling activities, evaluating and ranking exploration targets, coordinating field teams and contractors, and contributing to resource additions and the conversion of mineral resources into reserves.
Responsibilities

Demonstrate a strong understanding of exploration hazards and risks and apply appropriate controls during exploration activities.

Supervise implementation of departmental safety procedures and checklists and review them according to changing work conditions.

Promote strong safety performance across the Exploration and Geology teams and support achievement of departmental safety KPIs.

Demonstrate behaviours consistent with company safety values and promptly report injuries, illnesses, and incidents.

Coordinate junior geologists, field teams, and temporary personnel to ensure effective utilization of exploration resources.

Develop short-term exploration work programmes that contribute to the annual exploration budget.

Design execution plans to maximize geological knowledge and achieve exploration project objectives.

Supervise reconnaissance and resource-conversion drilling programmes within assigned project areas.

Analyze and interpret geological data to develop 3D geological models.

Use geological models to define exploration targets, plan follow-up work, and support resource modelling.

Conduct detailed geological mapping, logging, sampling, and data-quality checks.

Integrate geological data for target consolidation, ranking, and evaluation within and outside GGM concessions.

Prepare and submit exploration reports covering results, interpretations, and recommended next steps.

Train, mentor, and coach junior team members to strengthen their technical capabilities.

Conduct weekly performance meetings with drilling contractors and monitor service quality and performance.

Track daily and weekly exploration drilling costs for assigned projects and provide timely management updates.

Complete personal performance appraisals and those of direct reports within required timelines.
Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Geology, Advanced Diploma, or higher qualification.

3–5 years of professional experience in mineral exploration.

Practical experience in gold exploration across different geological environments.

Good understanding of geological data interpretation and 3D geological modelling.

Competence with geological and computer-aided software such as ArcGIS, Datamine, or Leapfrog.

Good knowledge of modern mineral exploration methodologies and technologies.

Good understanding of mineralisation systems within Greenstone Belts.

Understanding of the Tanzania Mining Act 2010, as amended in 2017.

Understanding of ISO 45001:2018 occupational health and safety standards.

Understanding of ISO 14001:2015 environmental management standards.

Ability to plan and coordinate exploration work programmes.

Ability to supervise drilling programmes and field exploration activities.
-
Ability to train, mentor, and coach junior team members.
