Specialist Data Lineage

CRDB Bank is looking for a Specialist Data Lineage to join the Data Management Office at its Tanzania Head Office in Dar es Salaam, reporting to the Manager, Master Data and Metadata. The role establishes and maintains reliable traceability of data from authoritative sources through storage and transformation to reports, regulatory outputs and analytical products, including lineage records, validation, evidence and impact analysis.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain business, system, table and column-level lineage, prioritising regulatory submissions and Critical Data Elements (CDEs), then management reports, priority domains, analytical products and AI data flows.
• Analyse SQL, stored procedures, ETL/ELT mappings, pipeline code, job schedules and report logic to document data movement and transformations.
• Validate harvested and manual lineage against production flows and recertify lineage for CDEs and regulatory reports on a defined cycle.
• Maintain a lineage gap register and track each gap to closure with an assigned owner.
• Define the lineage standard with Data Architects, Owners and Stewards and embed lineage checks in project delivery and change management.
• Provide upstream and downstream impact assessments for proposed changes.
• Support root-cause analysis of data quality, reconciliation and ETL incidents.
• Produce lineage diagrams, source-to-target mappings and validation records for Bank of Tanzania reporting and audits, and trace personal data flows for PDPA obligations.
• Report lineage KPIs and train stakeholders to read and use lineage.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data Management or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in data management, data engineering, data integration, business intelligence, data architecture or a closely related field.
• Advanced SQL and the ability to read stored procedures, ETL/ELT mappings (e.g. ODI), pipeline code and BI report logic (Power BI/DAX, SSAS); basic Python scripting.
• Hands-on experience with lineage or catalogue platforms such as Microsoft Purview, Manta, Informatica, Collibra, Ataccama or Alation.
• Knowledge of DAMA-DMBOK2 and EDM Council DCAM.
• Knowledge of BCBS 239, banking products, T24 data structures and the Personal Data Protection Act 2022.
• CDMP, DCAM, a lineage/catalogue platform or data engineering certification is an added advantage.
