Perseus Mining Limited is seeking an experienced Community Relations Superintendent to lead and manage community relations strategies and programmes in Mwanza.
The successful candidate will work closely with local communities, government authorities, NGOs and other stakeholders to build positive relationships, address community concerns and support the project's sustainable development objectives. The role will also ensure community engagement activities comply with Tanzanian legislation and relevant international mining-industry best practices.
Responsibilities

Develop and implement community relations strategies aligned with company objectives and Tanzanian regulations.

Serve as a key contact between the company and surrounding communities.

Maintain open, transparent and constructive communication with community stakeholders.

Lead public consultations, community meetings, awareness programmes and other engagement activities.

Address and resolve community complaints, grievances and concerns in a timely manner.

Build relationships with government authorities, NGOs and other relevant stakeholders.

Support and coordinate community development initiatives.

Monitor the social impact of mining activities on surrounding communities.
-
Ensure community activities comply with applicable environmental and social standards.

Lead and supervise Community Relations Officers and support their professional development.

Prepare regular reports covering community activities, progress, challenges and recommendations.

Support resettlement and compensation processes and ensure they are conducted fairly and transparently.

Support implementation and communication of Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) activities.

Distribute information about RAP implementation to internal and external stakeholders.

Maintain a regular presence within affected communities to address concerns and build relationships.

Support internal and external monitoring of stakeholder engagement activities.

Ensure contractors comply with relevant community engagement procedures and protocols.

Promote ethical practices, corporate social responsibility and sustainable development.

Perform other community-relations responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Public Relations, or a related field.

Minimum of 7 years of experience in mine-site community roles.

At least 5 years of experience in a supervisory or superintendent-level position.

Experience in community relations, stakeholder engagement or social performance within mining or other extractive industries.

Experience managing social-development projects at operational or mine-site level.

Experience with project planning and execution.

Strong understanding of Tanzanian laws and regulations relating to community relations, corporate social responsibility and local content.

Experience with community grievance-management processes.

Understanding of resettlement and compensation processes.

Strong stakeholder and relationship-management capabilities.

Ability to work effectively with communities, government authorities, NGOs and other stakeholders.

Strong leadership and team-management skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and stakeholder groups.

Strong public-speaking, presentation and meeting-facilitation skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Swahili.
