We are seeking an experienced Support Services Officer to join Perseus Mining (Tanzania) Limited in Mwanza.
The successful candidate will provide administrative, operational, and logistical support for site services within the company's mining operations. The role coordinates camp services, catering and housekeeping, employee travel and accommodation, office facilities, procurement activities, contractors, meetings, and general site administration.
The position requires strong organizational and coordination skills and the ability to work effectively with employees, contractors, and multiple departments in a large-scale operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Support Services and Site Services function.
- Prepare and maintain letters, reports, registers, presentations, memos, and other administrative documents.
- Maintain organized electronic and physical filing systems.
- Assist in preparing weekly, monthly, and quarterly support-services reports.
- Monitor office supplies, stationery, and operational consumables.
- Coordinate with camp management, catering, housekeeping, and other service contractors.
- Maintain camp occupancy records, room allocations, and employee rotation schedules.
- Follow up on employee feedback and complaints relating to camp services.
- Support inspections of camp, kitchen, dining, housekeeping, and other facilities.
- Assist with travel arrangements, including flights and ground transportation.
- Maintain travel, transport, and vehicle schedules and registers.
- Coordinate with Security and Logistics teams regarding arrivals, departures, and material movements.
- Coordinate meeting and training-room bookings, equipment, refreshments, and required materials.
- Support site events, employee welfare activities, safety programmes, and community engagement activities.
- Raise purchase requisitions for support-services supplies and minor operational requirements.
- Assist with monitoring catering, housekeeping, laundry, waste management, camp management, and other service contracts.
- Monitor contractor KPIs and verify that agreed services are delivered.
- Support invoice verification and routine communication with contractors.
- Maintain relevant permits, licences, and compliance records.
- Promote compliance with company HSE policies, internal controls, and applicable Tanzanian requirements.
- Act as a point of contact for employees and contractors regarding support-services matters.
- Coordinate with departments including Mining, Processing, Maintenance, HSE, HR, Security, and Community Relations.
- Perform additional support-services duties and projects assigned by management.
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Logistics, Public Administration, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in administration, hospitality, logistics, camp services, or a related function.
- Experience coordinating multiple support functions and working with contractors or service providers.
- Experience in mining, oil & gas, construction, remote-site operations, facilities management, large-scale catering, or hospitality is preferred.
- Previous experience at a remote mining camp or similar large-scale operation in Tanzania or East Africa is desirable.
- Understanding of camp operations, catering, housekeeping, or facilities management.
- Basic knowledge of procurement and contract administration.
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Pronto, or similar is desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Basic database and spreadsheet reporting skills.
- Strong administrative, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and work effectively under pressure.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professional conduct.
- Ability to work effectively within a multicultural environment.
- Fluency in Swahili and good written and spoken English.
- Ability to translate or interpret between English and Swahili is an added advantage.
