Graduate Metallurgist

We are seeking a Graduate Metallurgist to join Perseus Mining (Tanzania) Limited in Mwanza. The successful candidate will work closely with the metallurgical and processing teams to monitor plant performance, conduct metallurgical testing, analyse processing data, and support improvements in recovery, throughput, and operational efficiency.

This opportunity is suitable for a graduate looking to develop practical experience in mineral processing and metallurgical operations within a large-scale mining environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the monitoring and testing of mineral processing circuits.
• Analyse metallurgical data and identify trends affecting plant performance.
• Monitor key metallurgical performance indicators, including recovery, throughput, and processing efficiency.
• Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements.
• Support corrective actions where processing performance deviates from operational targets.
• Work with Processing, Maintenance, Technical Services, laboratory teams, and other relevant departments.
• Provide technical support to plant operations under the guidance of experienced metallurgical personnel.
• Support safe and effective metallurgical practices across processing operations.
• Participate in continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
• Ensure metallurgical activities comply with applicable safety and environmental requirements.
• Support environmental and sustainability practices associated with mineral processing.
• Participate in processing-related incident investigations where required.
• Develop technical knowledge through practical and theoretical training.
• Maintain accurate metallurgical information and translate findings into practical recommendations.

Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong technical foundation in mineral processing.
• Good understanding of processing plant operations.
• Understanding of factors affecting metallurgical recovery, throughput, and processing costs.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to interpret operational and metallurgical data.
• Understanding of health, safety, environmental, and sustainability requirements within processing operations.
• Interest in process optimisation and continuous improvement.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
