The Institute of Finance Management (IFM), a public higher learning institution, is seeking qualified Artisans II (Carpenter) to construct, install, inspect and repair wooden structures, furniture, fixtures and building frameworks. There are 2 posts, both in Dar es Salaam. The position is a one-year renewable contract on salary scale PGSS 2.
Responsibilities
- Install wooden structures such as roofing frames, rafters, partitions, joists, and stud work
- Design and install cabinets, shelving, fitted furniture, drywall, and insulation
- Add fixtures and fittings such as door handles, locks, hinges, and closures
- Construct and install walls, floors, doorframes, and ceilings
- Build and install cabinets, vanities, furniture, shelves, and other wooden fixtures
- Erect scaffolding, temporary structures, and support systems
- Inspect existing structures and repair damaged or defective components
- Assess the quality of woodwork and materials
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Instruct and direct labourers and construction helpers
- Document completed work and maintain project records
- Perform other related duties assigned by the Supervisor
Requirements
- Certificate of Secondary Education (Form IV National Examination Certificate)
- Trade Test II or Level II in Carpentry, or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution
- Computer certificate
- Tanzanian citizen not above 45 years of age
- Carpentry and woodwork skills
- Ability to construct and install wooden structures and fixtures
- Ability to inspect and repair carpentry work
- Ability to read or follow construction requirements
- Ability to maintain safe work areas and project records
