The Tanzania Fisheries Research Institute (TAFIRI) is seeking two Technician II – Marine (salary scale PGSS 5) to support the maintenance, repair and daily operation of its research vessels under the supervision of Marine Engineers.
Responsibilities
- Perform marine vessel checks under the Engineer's supervision
- Prepare tools and equipment needed for maintenance checks
- Assist Engineers in the preparation of maintenance programs
- Assist the Marine Engineer in maintenance and repair of research vessels
- Undertake routine activities in the engine room
- Report daily operations of the research vessel to the immediate supervisor
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by supervisors
Requirements
- Secondary Education Certificate (CSEE)
- Diploma (NTA Level 6) or Full Technician Certificate (FTC) in Marine Biology, Aquatic Ecology, Marine Ecology, Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences, Marine Biology and Applied Microbiology, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
- Tanzanian citizen not above 45 years of age
- Applicants currently employed in, or retired from, the Public Service are not eligible
