The Tanzania Fisheries Research Institute (TAFIRI) is seeking a Research Assistant – Marine (1 post, salary scale PRSS 1) to support marine fisheries research through field data collection, data analysis, reporting and research project planning under the supervision of Senior Researchers.
Responsibilities
- Assist in field data collection, electronic data entry and analysis, and gathering of relevant literature under close supervision of Senior Researchers
- Prepare and submit technical reports to the respective supervisor
- Prepare and submit manuscript drafts to the respective supervisor for review
- Train and supervise Technicians
- Assist in preparing research progress reports according to respective work plans
- Assist in the planning of specific research projects
- Assist in developing fundable research proposals and consultancy
- Perform any other official duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Marine Biology, or equivalent qualification, from a recognized institution
- Minimum of an Upper Second Class degree classification
- Tanzanian citizen not above 45 years of age
- Applicants currently employed in, or retired from, the Public Service are not eligible
